Ryobi USB Lithium Power Spray Mop
Ryobi USB Lithium Power Spray Mop Kit (FVSM02K)
When given a choice, I will always choose to vacuum the rugs in my house versus mopping the tile floors. I am not sure how many people would admit that mopping a floor is a task that they enjoy. There is just so much work involved with pulling out a mop, bucket, cleaning fluid, etc. I was very excited when given the opportunity to review the Ryobi USB Lithium Power Spray Mop Kit because I was in search of a mopping solution that I wouldn’t dread.

Physical Footprint
The Ryobi USB Lithium Power Spray Mop arrives in a tall, narrow box and there is some assembly required. You will need twist the head into its proper position and attach the handle. All of this is easy to do, requires no tools, and it will take less than a minute of time.
Once assembled, the Spray Mop stands 45-inches tall. The handle area is 5-inches in size, which easily accommodated my four fingers and my thumb rested on the top part of the handle. Where you rest your palm and fingers is also “rubberized”, which is a nice touch since the mop is less likely to slip out of your hands if they were wet.
At the back of the handle area is the battery compartment. Unscrewing the cap is easy to do and the battery needs to be pulled out in order to change it or recharge it.
Atop the handle are 3 buttons. The first button is the spray release. It is the largest button and I found it was very easy to reach with my thumb. The spray disperses straight ahead from the 2 on-board nozzles.
The button immediately behind the spray button is the agitator button. Depressing this button causes the entire spray mop head to vibrate. The vibration is not loud and it doesn’t cause your hand to vibrate uncomfortably, but it is effective at helping to release stuck-on stains. You don’t need to use the agitator when cleaning, but it’s a nice option to have for stubborn messes.
The third button is for the 2 LED lights on the front of the mop head area. I really appreciated having these lights as an option since they definitely helped illuminate my work area, especially in the dark corners of a bathroom. I was very pleased that Ryobi made the LED lighting an option that you could turn on or keep off, thus allowing you to reduce battery drain—I dislike the “always on” lighting feature of some battery-operated tools.
Below the handle area is a sturdy metal arm that connects to the cleaning solution housing area and the mop head area itself. With the cleaning solution attached, the design is very lightweight, weighing just under 2 pounds. I am just almost 6-feet tall and I found that using the Ryobi USB Lithium Power Spray Mop was a very comfortable experience that didn’t require me to bend over while using it.
Finally, the Spray Mop is self-standing when the mop head is locked in position. I thought it might be “tippy”, but it always stood up when I put it down and it never once fell over. Being so narrow, you could stand it up inside many closets inside your kitchen or bathroom. If you wanted to hang it from a hook, there is a notch at the end of the handle that you could attach a lanyard to.
Cleaning Solution
The Ryobi USB Lithium Power Spray Mop Kit arrives with a 7.6-ounce bottle of concentrated cleaning solution specifically designed for hard floors. The solution is made with naturally derived ingredients and it has a citrus fragrance. The solution is designed for sealed floors, so you can use it on hardwood, tile, LVP, LVT, stone, and more.
When you need to fill the solution tank, you remove it from the mop by gently depressing the button on the tank itself. The blue cap has a durable o-ring and it is easily unscrewed. The opening to the tank is 1-inch in diameter, which was big enough for me to fill it without spilling any fluid.
The refillable solution tank holds slightly over 8 ounces of water to reach its “water fill line” indicated on the side of the tank. Only ½ an ounce of the cleaning formula is needed to reach the “formula fill line” on the side of the tank after the water was added first. I measured this carefully and was quite pleased that Ryobi only requires half an ounce of formula for each tank. At these proportions, the 7.6 fluid ounces of concentrate shipped with the Spray Mop should last for almost 16 cleanings of your floor.
If you clean your floors frequently, you can purchase the 64 ounce bottle of concentrate from The Home Depot for a reasonable cost of $20.97. This is a very cost-efficient solution since the 64 ounces will last for at least 128 cleanings of your floor—if you cleaned your floors twice a week, that one large bottle would last for more than a year. I believe this is an attractive cost savings measure when compared to other wet mops since you won’t need to buy multiple bottles of solution, saving you both time and money, and it also reduces the amount of plastic you would need to recycle.
Most importantly, the Ryobi cleaning solution did a nice job removing the dirt and grime from our floors. It dried quickly and it also didn’t leave any sticky residue on the floors. The citrus fragrance was barely noticeable, which is significant to note since many people are very sensitive to strong cleaning odors, including my wife.
Reusable Microfiber Mop Pads
I am passionate about recycling and reducing waste, so I was quite pleased that Ryobi chose to use reusable cleaning pads with their USB Lithium Power Spray Mop. Ryobi reports that the mop pad can endure 500 cycles in your washing machine. The mop pad is 11 inches long and 5.75 inches wide. The bottom of the Spray Mop’s head has 18 Velcro-like fastening points that attach to the reusable cleaning pad’s fabric top, that is also emblazoned with the RYOBI name. The reusable cleaning pad’s bottom has a soft microfiber design.
Even after multiple uses and cycles inside the washing machine, the microfiber surface retained its soft design and integrity. When I didn’t want to wash the reusable cleaning pad after a small cleaning session, I found that rinsing it in my utility sink was also incredibly effective, and the dry time was also quite quick. With 2 reusable cleaning pads provided inside the box, you could use these original pads for months inside your home. When you are ready to replace the cleaning pads, you can purchase a new 3-pack on the The Home Depot website for an affordable $14.97.
The Ryobi engineers also designed the pad’s head to accommodate the single-use cleaning pads created by other spray mop companies. This is a nice option if you still own multiple disposable cleaning pads, or want to use a disposable pad on a really big mess!
In The Home Performance
As I noted before, I hate mopping floors. We have owned many different styles of mops, as well as wet mop sticks. While I was still required to exert effort to clean our floors, I did feel the effort was reduced thanks to the light-weight nature of the Ryobi Spray Mop and its agitating head.
On multiple occasions, I used the Spray Mop on the floors inside my home. I always did the tile flooring in our kitchen, front hallway, and 3 bathrooms whenever I tested it. I was very generous with the cleaning solution since I found the reusable microfiber cloth really absorbed the dirt and fluid when I cleaned an area of the floor. In most cases, I used almost the entire 9 ounces of fluid inside the tank when I cleaned the 5 areas. Whenever extra fluid was left in the tank, it never once leaked out while being stored thanks to the durable o-ring and design—this is good peace of mind.
Some engineering features of the mop really stood out to me. After “unlocking” the handle’s self-standing feature to begin mopping, you could actually get the entire mop to be completely parallel to the floor if you needed to clean under a table or chairs. This was very handy.
Even more exciting, was how well the mop head swiveled into tight spaces. You can twist the head so that it can run parallel alongside the baseboard molding and radiators in your house. I was able to squeeze the mop head into many tight areas, including around our toilets. I really appreciated Ryobi designing the mop head so it could twist, turn, and pivot into the tight spaces of my house—this saved me from having to bend down and do these tight areas by hand. The LED light was also super helpful illuminating the snug areas.
In terms of battery life, I have only had to charge the battery one time after using the Spray Mop weekly for more than a month. Certainly, the agitator and the LED light will be the biggest battery users, and you don’t need to use them all the time. You will need to physically remove the battery from the mop to recharge it when necessary. You can test the battery’s charge by depressing the button atop the Lithium battery and noting the color (green to red). Like the other Lithium batteries that I have tested, the battery charges in approximately 100-105 minutes using the provided USB-C cord.
The only improvement I would make to the Ryobi USB Lithium Power Spray Mop would be to include a more abrasive scrubbing attachment on the mop head. While the agitator helped remove many stains, the most stubborn ones required extra scrubbing by hand. A scouring strip would be a nice thing to include atop the black head area.
Final Thoughts
If you also dread mopping your floors and you are looking for a cost-efficient alternative to the typical mops sold in stores, then I think you might enjoy using the Ryobi USB Lithium Power Spray Mop. It worked quickly for me and always left my floors clean and residue free. The Ryobi USB Lithium line-up of tools offers many affordable time-saving solutions, and I believe the Ryobi USB Lithium Power Spray Mop will appeal to those that like to keep their floors clean and barefoot friendly.
