Mass. Construction Supervisor License Continuing Education

Construction Supervisor License Requirements

Governor Deval Patrick recently signed into legislation a bill that would require licensed contractors to take continuing education courses in order to be able to renew their licenses.

The legislation will enable the state Board of Building Regulations and Standards to develop the requirements and educational courses that will be necessary for home-builders to take.

An advisory committee of the board will determine how many hours of Mass. Construction Supervisor License Continuing Education courses will be required for supervisors.

These required educational courses are needed to keep builders abreast of all of the revisions and updates in building codes, as well as there is more emphasis on green building techniques.

Continuing Education

Mass. Construction Supervisor License Continuing Education [CE] like this is useful if managed properly, it assures the public that licensees maintain their knowledge on a current basis.

The problem with CE’s is that it does not take long for people to figure out how to manipulate the system which turns the CE process into a joke and a hassle.

If the state doesn’t mess this up, this may be a step to professionalizing the building /contracting field.

I’d like to hear what my favorite building inspector has to say on this…. Laurie what do you think?
