Drill Doctor SB Review

By Robert Robillard on Tool Review Videos, Tool Reviews

In today’s disposable society we have grown accustomed to throwing away many things including our dull or broken dill bits. This can get costly as drill bits increase in price with their size.

Anyone who has fought with trying to use a dull drill bit knows that it makes for difficult drilling and also does not produce clean holes.

Sharpening your dull and broken drill bits can save you time and money as well as produce a safer drilling and better quality work. But unless you have a professional sharpening tool this does not make sense.

The folks atDarexrecently sent me their Drill Doctor SB sharpener to review.

The Drill Doctor is well known for sharpening drill twist bits. They recently released a new version called the Drill Doctor SB.

The new Drill Doctor SB Spade and Twist Bit sharpener is the newest innovation from Drill Doctor. This multi function tool sharpens Spade Bits from 1/4-inch – 1 1/2-inch in addition to twist bits.

FIRST IMPRESSION:

I must admit that at first glance I was intimidated by the look of the Drill Doctor SB. After reviewing the provided instructional DVD and following the easy pictorial instructions I realized just how easy this tool was to use.

Within the first twenty minutes of using the Drill Doctor SB I had sharpened twenty-five drill bits.

The drill doctor retails for approximately $100.00. This tool pays for itself after sharpening twenty-five bits worth $4.00 a piece.

SPECIFICATIONS:

Sharpens twist bits from 3/32 to 3/4 inches.

Works with high-speed steel, carbide, cobalt, TiN-coated, masonry, and split-point bits.

Works with English, metric, and letter gauge bits.

Utilizes a easily replaced, industrial-strength diamond sharpening wheel that will sharpen approximately 200 bits before needing replacement.

Sharpens most types of Spade Bit drills from 1/4-Inch to 1-1/2-Inch.

Spade bit grinding wheel is long lasting ans also user replaceable.

OVERALL IMPRESSION:

I was impressed by how quickly I was able to sharpen 25 dill bits. The ability to sharpen my drill bits over and over will no double save me time, money and allow me to have better quality drilling applications and produce better quality work.
This tool lives up to the saying “it will pay for itself.”

WHERE TO BUY:

The Drill Doctor SB can be purchased at many hardware and tool outlets as well as online.

This review contains my opinion of a product. I take pride in providing my readers with an honest and objective information as well as a practical approach to using a product. I never accept payment in exchange for a positive review. Many of the tools and products are provided to for free by a manufacturer for review.
