IMG_0040DEWALT Corded and Cordless, Wet/Dry Vacuum, model DC500

When you’re in the service field having a light weight, portable vacuum that can handle fine dust is a necessity.    If I had a dollar for all the times I had to drill a handful of holes or make a few cuts inside an occupied home or business and did not have an effective way to clean up the dust.  Now I do – it the Dewalt DC500 vacuum is a cord / cordless, 2 gallon capacity vacuum.

Measuring at 16 x 12.8 x 14.5 inches ; and weighing in at 10.5 pounds this super lightweight vacuum can be pluged into a 120 volt outlet and also powered in a cordless mode by utilizing Dewalt 12 to 18-volt batteries.

Dewalt DC500 Vacuum Review:

Fitted with a HEPA canister filter and this compact sized wet/dry vacuum can quickly clean up real conIMG_0040struction related messes around the job site, garage, and workshop.  I’ve been using the DC500 at the work shop and on the job site as my “go- to vacuum” and back up to my much heavier and larger HEPA vacuum.

The Dewalt DC500 vacuum has a high-efficiency HEPA air filter that captures up to 99.7% of ultra-fine drywall dust.   The DC500 is powerful and sucks up everything from wood chips and small screws.   I have not tested it with water yet and hope I don’t need to!!!   The washable filter can be tapped cleaned or rinsed under running water, and its unique design allows it to be left in place regardless of whether you’re vacuuming up dry debris or wet spills.

The Dewalt DC500 vacuum has a two-gallon capacity tank that’s equipped with a convenient drain plug for emptying liquids. It coIMG_0040mes with a 1-1/4 inch diameter by 5-foot-long flexible rubber hose, narrow crevice tool, and wide-mouth nozzle.   The flexible hose is a quality hose and can stretch from 24 inches to 60 inches with no negative effects.

The blower function was not that strong but it was useful and effective at cleaning off sawdust from my table saw motor and geear when cleaning up.

For workshop, garage or service call clean up this vacuum is perfect.   Does not have a shoulder strap but has clip hoops if you buy your own so I added a shoulder strap from an old tool bag to assist with transport in and out of the jobsite.

Unfortunately the Dewalt DC500 vacuum does not work well when used with a shoulder strap.  when I tried to use it I would oftIMG_0040en engage the float ball and shut the tools suction off as a result.  the vacuum worked best when placed on the ground or carried in one hand.

The DC500 does not come with a battery or charger but if you are already using the Dewalt battery platform for other tools, this is a great complement to your tool box.

The DEWALT DC500 Vacuum sells for approximately $99.00 online here: DEWALT-DC500-2-Gallon-18-Volt-Cordless
