Milwaukee 4 Piece Forstner Bit Set 48-14-0004 ReviewMilwaukee 4 Piece Forstner Bit Set 48-14-0004 Review

Milwaukee Tools has been a leader in heavy duty tools since 1924.  In the traditional Milwaukee fashion, nothing they make is junk.  Milwaukee recently sent me their  4 Piece Forstner Bit Set to evaluate.

Milwaukee’s Forstner bits can be used in drilling pocket holes, overlapping holes or holes on the edge of materials. Specially designed fine kerf teeth help to produce accurate and clean holes. The bit’s precision ground edges also help produce flat bottom holes.

A Forstner bit is a particular type of drill bit that is often used in furniture making, finish carpentry and other woodworking projects. They are more expensive than standard drill bits.

Features:

  • Fine Kerf Teeth produce accurate and clean holes
  • Precision Ground Edges for flat bottom holes

Whats In the Box:

  • (1) 1/4″ Forstner Bit
  • (1) 1/2″ Forstner Bit
  • (1) 5/8″ Forstner Bit
  • (1) 3/4″ Forstner Bit

First Impression:

The set comes in a compact, durable and easily identify-able storage case.  the bits snap in and out of the case and it is apparent that this case will last as long as the bits – nice touch.

The bits appeared well made and were super sharp outside rim and central spur, right out of the case.

Using the 4 Piece Forstner Bit Set:

These bits cut as expected – real well!  I chucked them in my drill press and drilled dozens of holes in poplar, oak, mahogany and Ipe.  the result was consistent, clean ad easily drilled flat bottomed holes.

Overall Impression:

The Milwaukee 4 Piece Forstner Bit Set is a quality professional drill set. I was impressed with the ease of cut and precision that these bits were able to achieve.  I recommend these bits to professionals and serious DIYers who are involved in finish carpentry, furniture making or woodworking.
