PollenTEC Allergy Screen

PollenTEC Allergy Screen

Close up of PollenTEC Allergy Screen

A few weeks ago I posted on a new product called PollenTEC allergy screen which I called a noteworthy product.

I did a bit of research on this product and was inquisitive enough that I contacted the company and asked for a sample.
The sample arrived this week and I made the following observations:
1. The screen is a 100 % polyester and feels similar to the nylon screens I have in my screen porch. This materials will be easy to replace into an existing screen.
2. The holes in the pollenTEC are noticeably smaller but do not seem to distort my view as much as I thought. The manufacturer claims a 20% visibility and airflow loss.
3. Literature from the manufacturer claims that the “patent coating” process attracts pollen spores like a magnet.
The manufacturer does not make any guarantees how long this “process” will last. It also doesn’t not mention cleaning but my guess is that you can then vacuum or hose the screen clean.
4. Pricing is expensive compared to regular screening.
24″ wide roll x 50′ = $ 365.00
36″ wide roll x 50′ = $ 550.00
48″ wide roll x 50′ = $ 730.00
We ended up swapping out the screens in my screened porch and bedroom window screens with this product.  This just may mean no more vacuuming up yellow – green pollen on my porch!!
