Carpenter’s Tip To Drilling Precise Depth Holes
When drilling holes in wood or masonry the trick is always ensuring you’ve reached the correct depth.
As a carpenter and remodeler there are many times when I find myseld having to drill several holes to exactly the same depth. Many of my drills have depth gauges, but what if you don’t have one with you?
Drilling to the correct depth can be easy with a simple tip.

Some drills now come equipped with a measuring gauge, but what if yours doesn’t have one?

Use Tape To Measure Depth
Measure how much depth you need to drill with a ruler or measuring tape and mark with a pencil or marker.
Wrap tape around the bit at the depth you need to drill, wrap the tape around the bit in a clockwise direction. Drill until the edge of the tape reaches the surface indicating that you have reached the depth you desire.
Any Tape Will Do
You can use almost any type of tape. [blue tape, electrical tape or duct tape]
Drill your hole until you reach the tape. Works great for multiple same depth holes!
