Dewalt D24000 Wet Tile Saw

Dewalt D24000 15 amp, 10” Wet Tile Saw Accurate And Reliable:

Recently Dewalt sent me their D24000 Wet Tile Saw to evaluate.  This saw has a 1.5-horsepower motor and a 10-inch diamond blade which spins at 4200 RPMs can easily cut through hard materials like porcelain and stone.

Timing is everything and lucky for me we were remodeling a bathroom and were gearing up to install NUheat radiant floor heating and new tile. So we brought it out to the job site and used it on this installation.

Here’s what I liked:

First Impression:

WOW what a sturdy and great looking saw!  Once we set this baby up I was amazed at the accuracy of the rips and diagonal cuts.

An integrated stainless steel rail system made the fence seem to float.   Being a wet saw it is nice to see stainless steel being used.  Dewalt uses it generously.  They also take pains to keep switches and adjustments away from the water spray – nicely done.

A really nice plunge feature allows you to plunge cuts when shaping or notching pieces.  On many tile jobs you often have to customize a tile to fit it around electrical outlets, pipes, trim, A/C registers, etc.

I really liked the power switch location.  A large bright red pull on, push off switch is located high on the motor but easily reachable.  A great and obviously well thought out location for safety.

The power cord of the D24000 has a built in GFGI – nice touch with a wet saw!   Dewalt really paid attention to the contractors job site needs as well as safety designing this saw.

Portability:

The D24000 is extremely portable and bre3aks down nicely.  Weighing 69 pounds and measuring 34 by 26 inches, you can easily carry and set up this saw at home or at a job site.  I still wish it were lighter!

Cutting Capacity:

The D24000 has 10” diamond blade with a 3-1/8-inch cut depth which allows you to use this saw when cutting most V-cap tiles and pavers.  This makes this saw very versatile to contractors that find themselves working in and outdoors.

Adjusting the depth of cut is simple.  A quick turn on the head lock knob and then turning the depth of cut knob is all it takes.  Once set and locked in place it stays put!

One of the best features of the D24000 is the cantilevered rail design which allows for a 24-inch ripping capacity. It also allows for accurate diagonal cuts when working with tiles that measure up to 18 inches which is crucial for cutting large tiles.

The D24000 has a miter feature that tilts the cutting head, positive stops are located at both 45 degrees and 22.5 degrees.

A cutting cart extension wing is a nice accessory and attached to the rolling cart to help support large tile.  I liked that Dewalt designed a area under the water pan.

Stand:

I used an old stand and recommend that if you decide to purchase this saw to get the stand.   It is set at the perfect height and keeps the saw from sliding.

Setting up this saw is a cinch!

 Water Capacity:

The D24000 has a 5 gallon ABS water pan allows that was easy to setup, clean and takedown.  The five-gallon capacity ensures that you have enough water to make clean, blade cooling cuts!

Dual water nozzles near the blade , both can be adjusted for water placement on the diamond cutting blade.  When using this saw I immediately noticed that the adjustments allowed me to control and reduce that messy over-spray that most tile saws have.

The D24000 also has rear and side rubber spray hoods which help contain water runoff and blade spray.  This saw was so clean to use I would not hesitate setting it up inside a home to use.  Don’t get me wrong you still need to protect the floor and pay attention to your back drop ~ but this saw is cleaner than all of the others I’ve ever used.

Adjustments:

The D24000 came out of the box true and not needing adjustment.  It does have plenty of fine tune options if needed.   The rail system, cutting head rolling cart, cart scale, bevel pointer, cut indicator all have the capability to be adjusted.

Using The Dewalt D24000 Wet Tile Saw:

I wasted a few tiles playing with the D24000 before using it on the project.  I especially liked the plunge cut function.  Operating similar to a miter “chop saw” the diamond blade easily can make cut outs.  Make sure you set your depth of cut before doing this.

We used this saw to install floor and shower wall tiles.  It worked well, was easy to use and the settings were all easy to see and adjust.

Overall Impression:

Attention tile saw manufacturers ~ this is the saw to beat!  I was totally impressed with the caliper, attention to detail and durability built into this saw.

The saws weight, 69 pounds, is reasonably the saw is fairly light but I’d love to see them design a super light saw at say 45 pounds . . . titanium?  Hmmmmmmm.

At around $700 retail this tile saw is an investment and you’ll appreciate the time and effort that went into its design.

Warranty:

This 10-inch wet tile saw comes with a DEWALT warranty package that includes a three-year limited warranty, a one-year free service contract, and 90 day money back guarantee.
