DEWALT just released a new line of pneumatic finish nailers. Borrowing from their little brother Bostitch, which utilizes Smart Point® technology, these nailers feature what DEWALT is calling Precision Point™ Technology.  Both technologies are basically the same and offer precision, accuracy and a much easier nail placement through a smaller nose footprint.

Dewalt now offers eleven pneumatic nailers and staplers for a wide variety of fastening applications.  Some of their newer releases include:

  • 18 GA Brad Nailer (DWFP12233) – optimized for decorative trim  and cabinet work.
  • 16 GA Finish Nailer (DWFP71917) – optimized for door and base trim.
  • 15 GA “DA” Style Angle Finish Nailer (DWFP72155) – optimized for crown, trim and hardwood flooring as a starter tool.

What’s New:

We looked specifically at the DEWALT 16 Gauge Pneumatic Finish Nailer DWFP71917 and were impressed with it’s weight, balance and accuracy.  At less than 4 pounds each, this nailer is lightweight, well-balanced, and comfortable to use.

The main feature that sets this nailer apart from the competition is the Precision Point™ Technology, which provides easier nail placement through a smaller nose footprint. Dewalt designed a smaller nose with a better line of sight of the work surface.  This new technology also reduces the chance of damaged work by eliminating the need to push against the material to actuate the tool.

Features

The DEWALT 16 Gauge Pneumatic Finish Nailer DWFP71917 features a selectable trigger system allows the user to select between single fire or bump fire. Well placed rubber bumpers offer better protection of the work surface, a tool-free jam release, adjustable belt hook, rear exhaust, Dial-a-Depth control, integrated and pencil sharpener are included in this nailers features.

I especially liked and appreciated the swivel air fitting which allows better placement of the nailer and less fighting of the hose.
