AirShim Inflatable Tool- A Third Hand!
Whether you’re working alone as a matter of choice or necessity, you often need to find a ways to be efficient. I recently came across the AirShim inflatable pry bar and leveling tool and was impressed with how it acted like a third hand when performing certain lifting, shifting, aligning, leveling and plumbing tasks.
The AirShim allows a single installer to position and hold items in place, saving jobsite time and reducing labor costs by providing a much-needed extra hand in installations. The AirShim is an inflatable bag, similar to the Wedge Inflatable Automotive Lock Out Door Opener that tow companies would use to wedge doors in order to unlock them.
Measuring 6-3/8” x 6-5/8” the Airshim is a heavy duty plastic airbag that easily inflates and can lift of shift up to 300 pounds. For heavier objects, multiple AirShims can be used in tandem.
It has rounded corners and an internal stiffener that allows users to insert it under and in between items.
The AirShim can be used in lieu of a pry bar. The benefit is that it will not scratch or mar surfaces like a prybar or banging in wood shims, once you set it you can leave it in place, freeing your hands for other tasks.
Third-Hand Positioning
The bulb pumps up the bag to a maximum lift, shift, align, level or plumb with lateral movement to span gaps from 3/32″ to 2-1/2″ and eliminates the need for shims and wedges. The bag can be inflated with impressive measurement precision, and air released similarly.

I live in an old house and needed to shim a pantry cabinet that was leaning into and damaging the wall behind it. the AirShim easily plumbed the cabinet and allowed me to place permanent shims under the rear legs – worked like a champ!
The AirShim is an easy-to-use tool using a simple squeeze pump and precise bleeder valve allowing you to lift, plumb, raise and lower to perfect alignments. It lifts a decent amount of weight and frees up you hands to perform other tasks. It’s a lot cheaper than a paying a helper and allows a single installer to position and hold items in place, reducing labor costs by third-hand.
