Clean Breeze Collection | Mowing with a Breeze Review

The Mowing with a Breeze system is a game changer for allergy sufferers. As someone who has suffered from severe seasonal allergies for many years, mowing the lawn has always been a love-hate relationship. I genuinely enjoy maintaining my yard while laying down crisp stripes and keeping my property looking sharp. However, every time I mow, I pay the price. My allergies flare up so severely that I dread any kind of yard work.

Over the years, I’ve tried countless solutions to minimize my exposure to allergens. I have tried N95 masks, branded and fitted high-filtration masks, goggles, and more. While some products helped a little, they always came at the cost of comfort. Most masks needed to be tightly secured to seal properly, causing pain across my nose and face, especially during hot the weather. Goggles would fog, or not seal properly when combined with masks. Not to mention I would also be wearing a hat and hear plugs; can you say uncomfortable? No matter what I did I would usually finish mowing with itchy red eyes, a congested runny nose, and bad allergies that lasted for days.

That’s when I began searching for a better, more comprehensive solution. I dreamt that something like an astronaut helmet with a built-in filtered airflow system must exist. In my research, I didn’t find an astronaut helmet, but I did find the Mowing with a Breeze system from the Clean Breeze Collection. They are a small company based in Tennessee, offering a solution to my bad allergy problem. People without allergies may say that this looks ridiculous, but if you suffer from symptoms that interfere with your quality of life, you will appreciate the relief it provides.

I reached out to the owner, Michael, who was incredibly responsive and helpful. After discussing my allergy situation, they sent me a Mowing with a Breeze unit to test. From unboxing to first use, the setup was simple and the results were just what I needed to not ruin my day.

How it works

The helmet itself features a vinyl hood with a built-in clear face shield offering a wide field of vision. It uses a HEPA-filtered blower system mounted above your head that flows clean, filtered air down into the mask. This creates positive air pressure inside the helmet, preventing dust, grass particles, and pollen from reaching your face.

The helmet also consists of a knob for a quick adjustable fit, along with a cotton forehead sweatband for added comfort. I found that I did not sweat much while using the Clean Breeze System due to the constant flow of air. The system does not have a cooling function, but the constant flow of ambient air is very comfortable even when it is hot out. The air flow also prevents the mask from fogging up. Pictured below is the custom manufactured diffuser which directs the air down towards the face.

Set up

The overall build quality of the helmet and its components are good and the filtration unit is a pretty simple but efficient concept. Installation and setup take less than five minutes. Simply attach the hose to the filter motor. Hang the motor onto the belt. Place the battery into the pouch, and turn the unit on.

While mowing it’s recommended to place the belt, filter and battery pouch around the seat. If you solely plan to use this for mowing, the filter motor can be secured to the mower with zip ties or however you see fit. Although permanently mounting to the mower would be a good option, personally, I need to be able to go mobile when weed whacking or blowing off the patio and driveway.

Filter System

The Mowing with a Breeze system comes with three HEPA filters. Each filter is wrapped with a filter skin, which extends the life of the filter. While testing, I found that one filter lasted for four mows and is still very clean. Of course that is dependent on your terrain and the amount of dust that is getting kicked up. Replacement HEPA filters are very affordable and are sold in packs of three for $12.88 from the Clean Breeze Solutions website. The filters can be easily changed out by removing the protective cover and twisting the filter for removal. No tools are required.

Battery

The unit comes with a lithium battery that can be charged via a standard wall plug. Also included is a 12V male adapter that can be plugged directly into the lawnmower if you have an electrical plug. While testing for well over ninety minutes, the battery level did not go down at all. This was impressive. The manufacturer of the Mowing with a Breeze unit has stated that a full battery pack should last about six hours. For me that means the battery would last about five mows. If used in a commercial mowing setting where constant power is needed, I would recommend outfitting your mower for constant power with a 12v female adapter.

Real-World Performance

The first time I used the Mowing With a Breeze System, conditions were especially tough. Pollen was heavy in the air. Normally, I would’ve been a mess after mowing in those conditions, but this time, I finished feeling great. No sneezing fits, no itchy eyes, no post-mow allergy fog. While using the Mowing with a Breeze System, the filtered airflow remained steady, and I was able to mow, weed whack, and blow off my driveway, all while the filtered airflow simply pushed the allergens away from my face.

Other uses

You can also wear the blower pack around your waist or shoulder when you are on the go weed eating or blowing. It should be noted that the Mowing with a Breeze System is not just for lawn work, it can also be utilized during woodworking, sanding, sweeping, and basically, any time you want to push contaminants away from your face with filtered air. I now use the Mowing with a Breeze system every time I  mow my lawn, use my blower, or weed eater.

Pro Tip:

If you’re on the mower making tight turns and turning back into dust or grass clippings that are in the air, slow down slightly and allow the air to settle a little bit. Even though the airflow is continuous, this can only help maintain optimal clarity inside the mask.

I’ve now used the system multiple times, and each experience has been consistently positive. While no solution is 100% foolproof, especially when it comes to airborne allergens, this is by far the most effective option I’ve found, and definitely the most comfortable.

Suggestions for Improvement

I’d love to see a dedicated storage bag added as an option. Since I’m very careful about keeping the mask free from extra dust and allergens between uses, personally, I don’t want it lying around my shed or garage unprotected. After each use, I give the helmet a wipe down. I’m currently storing it in the original box after each use. A protective, large, nylon drawstring bag could be offered as an option. Even at a slight extra cost it would be a great addition.

Final Thoughts / Buy it now

The Mowing with a Breeze system is available directly from their website for $275 plus $15 shipping. If you suffer from any level of allergies and conventional solutions aren’t cutting it, I highly recommend giving this system a try. It’s comfortable, effective, and most importantly, it works. For allergy sufferers like myself, this product is worth every penny. It has genuinely transformed my lawn care routine from a dreaded chore into something I can enjoy again comfortably, without paying for it afterward.  Mowing with a Breeze stands out not just for its product but also for its customer service. They answer calls quickly and seem to be genuinely committed to helping customers with any concerns or questions.
