Milwaukee M18 FUEL Cordless Brushless Tools Offer 3 Advancements:

The folks at Milwaukee recently sent me their M18 FUEL 2603-22 18V Cordless Brushless Drill Driver to review and evaluate.

Take a look at this three minute video review of the M18 FUEL 2603-22 and remember, “Leave the ball and chain at home.”

What’s the big deal with brushless motors?

Brushless  motors seem to be the latest and greatest in tool offerings lately with: Makita, Hitachi, DeWalt and Milwaukee all releasing brushless tools.   Bosch is slated for later this year.  From what I’ve seen it appears that the upcharge to brushless is approximately $50.00 to the total tool cost.

There’s alot of hype about brushless and to put it as simple as possible brushless motors means “More Run Time.”  A brushless tool uses less energy, has better torque, runs cooler and runs longer which subsequently allows you to get more work done per charge.  Better tool efficiency and increased power are the ultimate result.

According to Milwaukee’s brushed-motor drills bored an average of 30,000 to 35,000 holes using a 1-in. auger bit before the brushes needed to be replaced.  A brushless-motor drill bored 10 times that.

Milwaukee M18 FUEL Cordless Brushless Tools feature impressive electronics, and smart 18 volt battery technology.  The M18 FUEL line has three innovative technologies that basically mean the tool, the battery and the charger all talk to each other to protect the tool and increase performance.    The end result is a 10x longer life, 25% more power and 50% more run time.  A more efficient tool is the result!

The M18 FUEL 2603-22 18V Cordless Brushless Drill Driver I reviewed is a real nice tool and is worthy of anyone’s tool box, especially a professional contractor.  This drill driver want’s to be used and abused!  Expect to see this tool in stores this Month.

The Milwaukee brushless technologies are:

POWERSTATE™ brushless motor:

The Milwaukee M18 FUEL Drill / Driver POWERSTATE™ brushless motor converts energy into power and torque more efficiently providing 725 lbs in torque and an increase of 25% in power.

REDLITHIUM™ battery technology:

The Milwaukee REDLITHIUM™ batteries provides more run-time, power and recharges, who wouldn’t want that?

The REDLITHIUM™ battery operates cooler and performs in climates as low as 0°F/-18°C with fade free power. A battery fuel gauge also displays remaining charge which I have always found a useful feature.

REDLINK PLUS™ Intelligence:

The REDLINK PLUS™ Intelligence hardware and software integrates full-circle communication between tool, battery and charger, and constantly monitors this internal network to maintain ideal conditions.  This prevents the tool from overcharging, over heating and draining too low.
