Holiday Tool Buying Guide 2

By Robert Robillard on Uncategorized

Based on the suggestion of a friend, I’ve compiled a list of great gift ideas of the tools and products that I have tested and reviewed.  All are great tools and many of them have found permanent homes in my toolbox!!

While most of these recommendations are tools, some of them are really cool products, clothing and gear.

Each category has a short description and an Amazon link to buy the tool or product online.   I do most of my shopping at Amazon and recommend their site.  I also get a very small commission from any tool purchase off the included links.

The tools below are in no special order, clicking on the title link will bring you to Amazon.com for additional information and purchasing.

You can learn more about any of these items by searching for them in my search box.

CORDED TOOLS:

Porter-cable Oscillating Multi-tool

In my opinion, the Porter Cable PC250MTK has one major advantage over the well known “Fein” multi-tool.

The most obvious feature would be the tool-less blade change which allows you to change the blade without handling any loose nuts or bolts.  The very first time I installed a blade on the Porter-Cable Multi tool, I was impressed that I did not have to remove any part of the tool to install the blade.

At  $ 105.00 it’s a great addition for the PRO or DIYer’s tool box.

Porter-Cable 5” Oscillating Sander

WOW ~ what a difference from my old random orbital sander.  The 390 is smooth, lightweight and powerful enough to use on all types of professional,  carpentry and Do-It- Yourself projects.

The Porter-Cable 390 Low-Profile Random-Orbit Sander is a powerful palm sander that has a low center of gravity for better control and handling as allows you to getting the sander into tight spots.
I’ve always used random orbitals because they sand so nicely across the grain!

Sells on line here for $ 95.00.  Highly recommended!

Porter-Cable Portable Hand Planer

I was super impressed with the PORTER-CABLE Hand Planer.  It’s reasonably priced and worth every penny.

The ergonomic design, light weight and newer features such as the micro adjustment and dust control make an easy tool to use and fall in love with.  Highly recommended.

This tool is a bargain at $ 103.00, sells online here:
