Zero Tolerance 0357BW Folding Knife Review

As a remodeling contractor, backpacker, outdoor enthusiast, and daily carrier of a pocket knife I’m a fan of pocket knives and always appreciate a useful, well made, and functional knife when I see one.

I’m a big fan of Kershaw knives and about a year ago became hooked on the Zero Tolerance or ZT Knives. In fact, I now own several ZT Knives. When looking at the Zero Tolerance 0357BW Folding Knife I was particularly interested in looking at several points:

  1. Quality
  2. Durability
  3. Functionality
  4. Ease of use
  5. Application

First Impression

I recently had a chance to carry this Zero Tolerance 0357BW Folding Knife. Out of the box my first words were, “Wow what a sweet looking knife.”  It has an excellent fit and finishes and the G10 handles are very cool.

Additionally, the SpeedSafe blade assist opening mechanism, which allows the knife to open smoothly with one hand, is a must. One flick to either the thumb stud or the blade protrusion and the blade deploys open, easily, quickly, and effortlessly and locks open for safety.

The CPM-20CV steel blade offers exceptional hardness, wear resistance, edge retention. I really like the BlackWash finish which helps hide blade scratches.

  • Blade Length: 3.25″ (8.3 cm)
  • Closed Length: 4.4″ (11.2 cm)
  • Overall Length: 7.7″ (19.6 cm)
  • Blade Material: CPM-20CV Stainless Steel
  • Blade Thickness: 0.121″ (3.07 mm)
  • Blade Style: Drop Point
  • Blade Finish: BlackWash
  • Handle Material: Black G10
  • Locking Mechanism: Liner Lock
  • Pivot Assembly: SpeedSafe Assist
  • Pocket Clip: Tip-Up, Right/Left Carry
  • Weight: 4.3 oz. (122 g)
  • Made in the USA

ZT Knife Functionality

The Zero Tolerance 0357BW Folding Knife features a 3.25-inch drop point blade. High-end CPM-20CV blade steel provides reliable edge retention and corrosion resistance. Black G10 is machined on both the front and back of the handle.

Using Zero Tolerance 0357BW Folding Knife

I’ve carried the Zero Tolerance 0357BW Folding Knife every day for almost a month during this review and have used it for all sorts of applications from opening letters, boxes to cutting rope, carpet, and lumber pile straps.

The blade has stayed sharp and the ability to deploy the knife one-handed is a plus. A few law enforcement friends of mine are considering this Zero Tolerance 0357BW Folding knife as a lightweight tactical / duty knife.

The size, quality, and 4.3 ounces weight impressed me, I forget this knife is in my pocket. The reversible belt clip is strong and tight. Over time it does break in a bit, but there is NO WAY this knife will fall out of your pocket once clipped.

So far I have not found anything to fault the Zero Tolerance 0357BW Folding Knife on.

Overall Impression

The Zero Tolerance 0357BW Folding Knife is a premium working knife built with quality and for tough conditions. This knife is going to last a long time – it’s well worth the investment. The Zero Tolerance 0357BW Folding Knife is built in their Tualatin, Oregon USA factory.
