Zero Tolerance 0450 Sinkevich Titanium Knife

The Kershaw ZT Zero Tolerance Knife, model 0450 is a version of an award-winning collaboration between ZT and custom knife designer Dmitry Sinkevich. It is a version of the 0454 knife, which was a very limited edition.  If you don’t have the 0454 knives, I think Zero Tolerance 0450 is the next best thing!

 

Zero Tolerance 0450  Titanium Folding Knife

The 0450 knives copied the original’s streamlined form and high-performance function, but in a more compact version.  It’s designed with a 3.25-inch blade and weighs only 2.9 ounces, thanks to its titanium handle.

First Impressions

The blade came razor-sharp, I especially liked the S35VN stainless blade, and have found it to hold its edge-sharpness, a long time.

The 0450 knife uses a KVT ball-bearing opening system, and finger flipper, allowing a lightning-fast, smooth opening.  This blade opens so fast it actually feels like an open assisted knife instead of a flipper.
The blade is secured open with a titanium frame lock with a hardened steel lock bar insert. The blade is perfectly centered in the frame.
The knife is lightweight and doesn’t take up much room in the pocket, and has a reversible tip-up carry pocket clip for personal carry preference.

Using the Zero Tolerance 0450

I especially liked that the Kershaw ZT Zero Tolerance Knife is made in the USA.

One thing I took note of was that the Zero Tolerance 0450 Folding Knife was difficult to open, at first.  It seemed that the flipper mechanism takes some time to break in – solved after a few dozen open repetitions.  The KVT opening system is a caged ball-bearing system which is why they made the detent on the knife a little stiff. The stiff detent is what biases the blade towards a closed position, and can make it a bit hard to open at first. If dropped (for instance, if the flipper hits the floor) it can open since there is no spring.

I carried this knife for 60 days as an EDC.   It is a really nice looking and working knife, the fit and finish of the stonewashed handle, clip and polished pivot hardware make this knife almost too good-looking to use daily.

The lightweight and compact frame on this knife were quickly noticed and much appreciated. It has a classy design element that doesn’t blow the budget! The 0450 is a compact and extremely comfortable, every day carry [EDC] knife.
