Kershaw Zing Knife

Kershaw Zing Knife designed by RJ Martin, Model # 1730SSKershaw Zing Knife

When I think of an everyday carry knife I think of Kershaw.  More specifically I think of the Kershaw stainless steel, spring assisted knives. One of my favorites is the Kershaw Leek 1660 knife which I reviewed last year.  Awhile back the folks at Kershaw sent me the Kershaw Zing Knife   to evaluate.

What’s so different about the Kershaw Zing Knife 1730SS?

The Zing is sleek, all stainless steel knife an blade with a bead blasted finish. The blade is made with 8CR13MoV heat treated stainless steel.

The cutting blade is a modified drop-point blade which is great for slicing and piercing boxes and other materials.  The BEST part of the Kershaw Zing Knife  is the speed safe assisted opening mechanism.  The ambidextrous flipper tab which is used to open the blade also serves as a non-slip guide for your forefinger – an ingenious design!

If your not a fan of the flipper tab then you can open the blade using the ambidextrous studs on each side of the blade.  Once open the knifes frame locks the blade in position until you push the frame lock to the left.

The pocket-clip can be be repositioned to accommodate a tip-up or tip-down position. A lanyard hole is also provided and useful in the back country and on rafting trips.

Free Sharpening

Kershaw has an outstanding warranty and will even sharpen your blades for free.  All you have to do is return your knife to them, pay one way shipping and they will return the knife back to you.

Room For Improvement?

As far as the knife goes ~ no, there is no more room for improvement.  Similar to the Leek 1660, the Zing 1730SS knife is a sturdy, no-nonsense knife that is compact and light enough to carry everyday.   Priced at under $50.00 this knife is a no-brainer every day carry knife.

The only “ZING” that I can give the Zing knife is that it is made in China.
