Home Composting

In 1993 Massachusetts banned yard waste from trash in an effort to reduce landfill garbage and save money.

Home composting is not new, many people utilize this process to receive the benefits of a rich soil additive with the goal of greener lawns and gardens, reduced need for pesticides, reduced trash collection fees and a cleaner environment.

Home composting is a controlled process of natural conversion of organic materials by micro organisms into compost. By composting, your can remove more than 500 lbs of organic matter from your household waste per year, diverting it from collection, the landfill or incinerator.

Home composting is simply a combination of yard debris (like grass clippings and fallen leaves) and kitchen scraps (such as fruit and vegetable spoils), placed into an environment suitable for decomposition.
