DEWALT 12 oz Mig Weld Hammer DWHT51135

DEWALT Mig Weld Hammer Review

The folks at DEWALT recently redesigned their mig weld hammer line.   We took a look at the DEWALT 12 oz Mig Weld Hammer DWHT51135.

I’ve been using the 15 ounce framing hammer for over a year now and love it.

First Impression:

It’s really hard to believe that this lightweight and well balanced hammer has the striking force of  a 20 ounce hammer.  DEWALT figured out how to reduce the weight of each hammer compared to the original model while still maintaining their existing strike force.

The bright DEWALT yellow multi-layer grip help will no doubt reduce vibration and the grip and is super comfortable.

I was intrigued is I was going to reduce arm fatigue with this hammer so we took it to the job-site for further review.  It really is a nicer swinging hammer than mostly everything I’ve used.  The only exception would be my Stiletto which is way more expensive.

New Mig Weld Hammers:

DEWALT  re-engineered line of its Mig weld hammers and introduced a new 10 ounce hammer.  These re-designed hammers are:

  • DWHT51135- checkered faced, 12 ounce hammer. [strikes like a 20 ounce hammer]
  • DWHT51260 – smooth face, 10 ounce hammer.
  • DWHT51138 –  checkered faced, 14 ounce hammer.
  • DWHT51145- smooth-faced framing, 14 ounce hammer.
  • DWHT51138 –  checkered faced, 14 ounce hammer. [strikes like a 28 ounce hammer ]
  • DWHT51145- smooth-faced framing, 14 ounce hammer.

This new line also features a redesigned curve claw for better  nail pulling and less wood marring.  These hammers also feature a magnetic nail starter for one-handed nail placement.
