Extreme Makeover Maynard Massachusetts

Extreme Makeover in Maynard Massachusetts

I recently bought an external hard drive to back up my files and pictures. While going through all my picture disks I came across these pictures of my friends and my Home Makeover experience.

The home on Elm Court in Maynard was featured on ABC’s “Extreme Makeover,” The show was a seven-day tear down and construction of a home for Paul Giunta and his family.

Paul was critically injured in an auto accident two years ago. The crash occurred March 26, 2006 as he was driving home with his sons Cameron and Dylan after visiting his wife Renee in the hospital. She had just given birth to their daughter Brianna.

The boys were uninjured, but doctors had a grim prognosis for Giunta. They doubted he would ever walk, talk or be able to feed himself after the accident. For the past two years Paul has lived with his parents in a retirement community, apart from his wife and children. Now with the new home the family will all be together.

I was approached by Concord Lumber Kitchen Works Divison’s Jim Forsaith and asked if I was willing to install cabinets. I called two friends; Bill Langton [Master carpenter], Josh West [JCP WEST Contracting] and we joined forces with Jim Forsaith [Concord Lumber’s Kitchen Works] and volunteered to install the cabinets and trim in a room that was going to be a home based for Paul’s wife.

We showed up at 6:00 p.m. and didn’t leave till 2:00 a.m.

I was so impressed with the total atmosphere of goodwill that surrounded this local project. It was truly amazing to see everyone step up and work together for such a great cause.
