Wilton Road Ready All Terrain Vise 10010 Review
When you work in the trades, repair business or in remote locations you need to bring everything you need with you.
We recently took a look at the Wilton All Terrain Vise which easily slides and mounts into 2-inch trailer hitches. Once secured in the hitch the vise becomes a secure, instant clamping and workstation.
The Wilton All Terrain Vise does not interfere with the tailgate.
The Wilton All Terrain Vise easily inserts into a standard 2” hitch receiver, and is secured by a hitch pin. Two set screws on the top and side are used to tighten the ATVs fit inside the receiver to eliminate play and reduce vibration when operating the vehicle. A 360° locking handle. When driving, a spring-loaded hub secures the handle and keeps it in an upright position.
The top of the vise has an anvil for striking items. At 33 lb. this vise is heavy, but portable. We found it , to be well constructed out of ductile cast iron, and powder-coated steel which has a 60,000 psi. rating. The vise’s lead-screw is precision-ground carbon steel with acme threads.
The vise has an overall dimensions of 19-1/4”L x 6”W x 7-1/4H.” It opens to 6-inches, has a 5” throat depth, and has a clamping force of 1 ton. Equipped with two sets of jaws (straight and v-groove), which are replaceable. The pipe jaws hold material up to 3” in diameter.
A work bench mount is also included – we found that useful in the shop.
Applications
The mobile vise is great for most bending and cutting operations. It’s also handy for fence, building and parts repairs, and other work-holding projects. While not an everyday tool for my field I started thinking of who may use this vise for repair applications, here’s my list:
