Senco FramePRO Framing Nailer 325XP

My very first frame and finish nailers were Senco brand pneumatics. I bought them as a package deal at a pawn shop.

I still think back to how amazing the 325+ framing nailer was, it was super compact, reliable and powerful. I had those two nailers for almost 2o years with no issues.

I’m not sure if it was because those Senco nailers were “my first,” or were really that awesome. Either way I have always had a lot of respect for Senco nailers.

NEW Senco XtremePro 3¼ Framing Nailer 325XP

Senco recently released of its new FramePRO 325XP 3-1/4 inch pneumatic Frame nailer and it has some very nice improvements from my old nailer had.

Notable Improvements:

Compact design – fits between joists
Retractable rafter hook
Tool free depth of drive
Dry fire lockout system
Round or clipped-head paper tape nails up to 3-1/4 inch [34 degree offset]

The feature that I appreciated the most was the compact design. The FramePRO 325XP measures just under 12 inches long, 4.5 inches wide, and weighs in at 7.9 pounds

We used the FramePRO 325XP while framing a deck and I enjoyed the access that it allowed me. Being able to “direct nail” solid blocking between deck joists just got easier.

Design:

The the FramePRO 325XP has an aluminum external housing and high strength steel driver blade.

The depth of drive adjustment is tool free using a thumb-wheel on the top of the nose end. I found this adjustment easy to use, consistent and responsive. While I cant be positive it seemed that one thumb-wheel click adjusted the depth of drive 1/8 of an inch.

The retractable rafter hanger is “large and in charge.” It swivels in all directions, works well and is easily adjusted. I used it a lot while framing this low deck.

Bump Fire Or Sequential:

Switching between bump fire and sequential is super easy and probably the easiest I’ve seen so far.

Near the trigger a selector switch is simply depressed and slid to bump or sequential.

Power:

I had no negative issues with the FramePRO 325XP. It delivers 780 inch-pounds of impact energy at 100 PSI.

We used almost an entire box of full head, paper tape, Paslode brand nails and did not have one mis-fired nail or jamb. I was impressed.

Capacity:

The FramePRO 325XP holds two strips of fasteners and locks out with a few nails left in the magazine.

The only negative issues I had was when trying get the two strips of nails. If the paper tape holding the nails protrudes even a little the magazine spring will not click in and load both strips. When this happened I found myself doing one of two things:

Load one strip, fire two nails and load the other strip
Use my razor knife and cut off the protruding paper

Both of these methods is unacceptable and wastes time. I would like to see Senco reduce the tolerance on this nailer capacity by one nail to eliminate this issue.
