Rockwell Sonicrafter Oscillating Tool F50

Rockwell Sonicrafter Oscillating Tool F50

New Rockwell Sonicrafter Models:  Faster and Powerful

Rockwell’s next generation of Sonicrafter oscillating tools have been redesigned with and increased oscillating angle and more power to cut faster. The Rockwell Sonicrafter Oscillating Tool F50 new design is more tapered and compact, plus the accessory count for each model has increased for added value and applications.

What’s Changed?

According to Pete Denley, Rockwell’s product manager. “A third party testing facility ran Sonicrafters against other major oscillating tools in the marketplace. They concluded that Sonicrafters withstand more force while cutting than any other brand.”

Increased Power and Cutting Angle

Rockwell By increasing the tools’ power and oscillating angle, resulting in the Rockwell Sonicrafter Oscillating Tool F50 cutting five times faster than the Sonicrafter RK5121K.

This increased oscillating angle and power have resulted in the RK5141K F50’s having a maximum cutting load of 35 lbs., compared to RK5131K 30 lbs. for the F30 and 21 lbs. for the RK5121K.

Most oscillating tools have an oscillating angle of 3.2°. Rockwell’s  Sonicrafters (F50, RK5141K and F30, RK5131K) now feature angles of 5.0° and 4.0°, respectively.

The Sonicrafter F50 model (RK5141K) is 4.0 amps, while the F30 (RK5131K) registers at 3.5 amps. Additionally, these tools offer electronic constant speed control that maintains the tool’s cut rate under load.

Rockwell engineers designed a counterweight in these new tools to offset this vibration caused by the increased cutting angle allowing for a  smoother, more efficient cut.

Pushing The Tool Harder

Rockwell says that this means users can push these tools harder before the blade stalls out.

At Concord Carpenter we feel most people push too hard on the tool and cause massive heat build up which prematurely dulls the blade.  The user should not push the tool to hard but to incorporate movement in the cutting action.

Dont Push – Move!

The trick to an oscillating tool is to allow the weight of the tool to do the cutting, apply correct pressure to the material your cutting, and apply blade movement.

Multi-tools vibrate and have a micro short stroke which by design do not remove waste from the blade kerf.   If you rock the tool back and forth, pull the blade out of the kerf or cut along a line evenly as well as apply pressure the cut waste will find a way out.  This keeps the kerf clean, the blade cooler and lessens the chance for you to burn your blade.

Tool-less Blade Change:

The new Rockwell  Sonicrafter oscillating tools feature a spring-loaded centering mount that positively engages accessories with the help of the Hyperlock™ tool-less blade change system.

Hyperlock is available on the new Sonicrafter models:

Sonicrafter F50 (RK5141K, $139)

Sonicrafter F30 (RK5131K, $119)

Sonicrafter (RK5121K, $79)

20V Sonicrafter (RK2863K, $159)

ShopSeries Sonictool (SS5121, $49)

A Rockwell hard case is included with the Rockwell Sonicrafter Oscillating Tool F50 (RK5141K) and Sonicrafter F30 (RK5131K).

The new Rockwell Sonicrafter will be available in Fall 2014 at Lowes or other select major retailers.
