On a recent project we were hired to remove a second floor balcony. Anytime your removing parts or performing demolition you need to consider what the debris will land on.
On this project we tried to remove the balcony components and hand them down to a person. In real life, things drop, break off or fall.
To ensure that you are not taking unnecessary risks make sure you protect the surface below as well as any windows and doors in the path of fallen objects.
Protecting Windows During Remodeling
On this site we used 1/2 plywood to protect the windows under and adjacent to the demolition site.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Especially at today’s window replacement costs!
