PortaMate Universal Tool Base PM1000 Review

HTC PortaMate PM1000 Universal Mobile Base

The folks at HTC recently sent me their Port-A-Mate PM-1000 adjustable mobile base, to evaluate and review.

Mobile tool bases are ideal for moving, storing or servicing larger tools in your workshop.  I have a small work shop and for me having all of my woodworking tools on mobile bases means I can store these tools against the wall and leave the center of the shop open for assembling operations.

With a mobile base, when I need to access a tool or run long boards through the machines I can simple roll it out into the open shopp floor to get the long lenths through the machine.

Putting together the PortaMate PM1000:

Ther kit comes with everything you need.  I decided to use the PM1000 on my heavy drill press.   I simply measured the drillpress base and thenn assembles the PM1000 to that dimension.  Fully adjustable mobile base features side rails and corner pieces with holes spaced every 1 inch to insure the perfect fit for your machine  Time on task was 20 minutes.

Getting this heavy drill press onto the PM1000 was the hardest part.   Once on the base the once immovable drill press rolled effortlessly across my shop floor.

PortaMate PM1000 Features:

The PM1000 was a perfect unit for my drillpress.   HTC has many different size bases to accomodate bandsaws, table saws, sanders, drill presses, jointers, planers, and much more.
