Take a slotted screw driver, hold it at an angle and use your palm or a hammer and make two or four drain holes in the paint cans rim.
This allows the paint to seep back into the paint can and not over flow the can. It also prevents the paint from drying up inside the rim, prevent you from sealing the can up properly and shortening the shelf life of your paint!
