New Stanley Tools This Year

Stanley Tool Media Event 2012

I just got back from the Stanley Media event in the Westin New York Hotel and learned that Stanley, Dewalt and Bostitch have 250 new tool releases scheduled for this year – WOW!

I saw and played with may different tools but many of them are not ready for release yet and are what they call “embargoed.”  Meaning we are not able to talk about them.  Here are a few of the New Stanley tools this year that were not embargoed.

New Stanley Compact Chalk Reel:

The new 30’ compact chalk reel, model STHT47147  is compact and lightweight and will no doubt take WAY LESS space in my tool bag!    According to Stanley it is 70% smaller than their base model and claims to be able to snap more than 50 clean, accurate lines before refilling.

Made with high-impact ABS case the STHT47147 rewinds three times [3X] faster than their older model, while not the fastest on the market that is still pretty good.   Look for this product this June 2012, for approximately $4.99.

New Stanley Stud Sensors:

Four new  models arrive this year and are geared for the Pro or the DIYer.

The most exciting part of these stud sensors is their AC Detection feature which detects live wires up to 2 inches below surface material.

The Stanley Stud Sensor 100 – model STHT77403 – This stud sensor kept beeping every time I walked past it.  [just seeing if your paying attention]

Seriously for super short money this sensor detects wood studs up to 3/4 inch below surface material.  It alerts with an LED and audible beep.   Available this June 2012, it will sell for approximately $12.99.

The Stanley Stud Sensor 150 – model STHT77404 – detects studs up to 1-1/2 inches below surface material, sequential LEDs and audible beeps indicates what it is sensing below the surface. The marking channel with LED detects the target and makes marking surfaces easy and accurate.   Available this June 2012, this product is expected to sell for approximately $16.99.

The Stanley Stud Sensor 200 – model STHT77406 – detects studs up to 3/4 inch below surface material, and with its LCD screen clearly displays all of the tool’s readings. This tool also touts the feature of One Pass Center Find Technology – which locates the stud’s center.  Available this June 2012, this product is expected to sell for approximately $24.99.

The  Stanley FatMax Stud Sensor 300 – model FMHT77407 – detects studs up to 1-1/2 inches below surface material, and its back-lit LCD screen clearly displays all of the tool’s readings, even in low lighting conditions.

The OnePass Center Find Technology locates  the studs center and a deep metal scan senses metal up to 3 inches below surface material.

This sensor was my favorite and will be helpful locating old cast iron waste pipes.  Available in June 2012, this product is expected to sell for approximately $34.99.

Stanley Dual Color Squares:

Stanley has two new dual color speed squares out which I liked alot.  The squares will come in 7 inches and 12 inches – models STHT46010 and STHT46011.  Isnt it funny that we call these tools “squares” when their shaped as a triangle?

The dual color enhances the visibility of the measurement markings on these squares.   I really liked the bright yellow color which made me think about the time I’ve spent looking for my speed square in bushes and Hosta plants after dropping it off a staging plank.

Thick ABS plastic frames makes these squares extremely durable.  Additionally an extra wide base is a nice feature when setting this tool against material to be marked or measured.  Molded-in measurement graduations extend from top to bottom surface and ensure a long lasting visible measurement mark.

Both squares will be available June 2012 for $4.99 [7″ square] and $9.99 [12″ square]

 Stanley Shop Shears

Stanley Heavy Duty Shop Shears – model STHT14103 – An ergonomic handle that features a thru-tang construction of stainless steel blades for durability make this shear stand out as a job site, shop, household or garden tool.

These shears are for anyone who wants a high quality and extremely functional pair of shears.   Able to cut thorough leather, plastic strapping, rope, vinyl, twine, plastics and many other heavy duty materials these shears are extremely useful and reasonably priced to sell for approximately $12.99.  Available this September 2012.
