NEW MAKITA 12V MAX CORDLESS COMBO KIT

NOVEMBER 1, 2010 – La Mirada, Calif. – Makita, a worldwide manufacturer of technologically advanced power tools that are more compact with less weight yet deliver industrial strength power and results, has added to its groundbreaking line of cordless power tools with the release of the 12V max Lithium-Ion Cordless 2-Piece Combo Kit, model LCT208W. The new combo kit features a versatile new 3-3/8″ Circular Saw with a range of cutting capabilities, paired with a powerful and compact 3/8″ Driver-Drill.

“The new 12 Volt max Lithium-Ion Cordless 2-Piece Combo Kit gives the user two compact solutions for a range of drilling, driving and cutting applications,” said Ethan Haughawout, Makita product manager, cordless products. “They’re engineered for service, maintenance, repair and remodeling projects, as well as woodworking. The new LCT208W is the first of what will be a growing line of 12 Volt max cordless solutions that deliver pro power and pro speed in a compact size.”
12V max Lithium-Ion Cordless 3-3/8″ Circular Saw (SH01W)

The 12V max Lithium-Ion Cordless 3-3/8″ Circular Saw delivers more work and faster cutting in a compact size. The saw has a no-load speed of 1,400 RPM with depth adjustment, a bevel capacity of 0°-45°, and a cutting capacity of 1″ (90°) and 5/8″ (45°). The blower function keeps the line-of-cut clear for improved visibility, and the soft grip handle and compact design (only 3.3 lbs.) provides increased comfort on the job.

“The new SH01W cuts 30% faster and delivers 20% more cuts per charge than previous models,” said Haughawout. “It will make approximately 70 cuts of ½” x 12″ plywood at 90 degrees on a single battery charge. This is a powerful, versatile and compact saw for cutting a range of materials including plywood, MDF, pegboard, particleboard, melamine, drywall, and more. It’s a perfect addition to any tool box.”

The SH01W includes a 3-3/8″ 20T carbide-tipped blade for a range of cuts. It’s ideal for remodelers, woodworkers, and general contractors.

12V max Lithium-Ion Cordless Driver-Drill (FD02W)

The 12V max Lithium-Ion Cordless Driver-Drill (FD02W) is engineered with a Makita-built motor that delivers 200 in.lbs. of Max Torque with two speed settings (0-350/0-1,300 RPM), variable speed, and 18 clutch stages for a range of drilling and driving applications. It has a keyless chuck for quick bit changes, an L.E.D. light to illuminate the drilling surface, and an ergonomic grip that fits like a glove for even pressure and easy control. This versatile and compact driver-drill delivers pro power and pro speed, yet weighs only 2.2 pounds and is only 7-7/16″ long, making it ideal for work in close quarters.

The LCT208W is Makita’s first release in the 12V max Lithium-Ion platform, with more solutions on the way. The change to “12V max” is consistent with lithium-ion battery voltage ratings that have been adopted in the marketplace since Makita first launched 10.8V Lithium-Ion products in 2008. Makita has engineered the new 12V max Lithium-Ion to be fully compatible with Makita 10.8V Lithium-Ion cordless solutions already available, including driver-drills and accessories, as well as an impact driver and a vacuum. Similar to the rest of Makita’s groundbreaking Lithium-Ion battery technology, the 12V max Lithium-Ion battery is charged on an ENERGY STAR qualified charger for maximum efficiency.
