Living Room Remodel With A New Fireplace Mantle

We are in working in Winchester, Mass this month adding some nice finishing touches to a high end retirement condo before the owner moves in.

The old mantel above was 6′ high. [photo below] Besides being to large for the room and not to the new owners taste, it was also too high for the owner to have a flat screen t.v. installed.  We also had to remove the gas insert.

See removal process and metal stud locations here

Photo: My last day of this project the mantle looked like this, still needing paint.

This remodel project started with us removing the mantle and gas fireplace insert, shown below and installing a new fireplace mantle.

One of the fun things with returning to a house that you did a lot of work to is to get to see the space lived in, filled with furniture and finished.

As someone who is always trying to be more efficient while still delivering quality results it’s also good to see how my work is holding up. It’s also a good opportunity to correct anything that is not holding up.
