Milwaukee M12 Cordless 3/8 Ratchet Kit 2457-21

The Milwaukee M12 Cordless Ratchet Kit 2457-21 is an interesting new tool forMilwaukee M12 Cordless Ratchet Kit 2457-21   Milwaukee.  I first spied this tool at their 2012 media event and recently received on to test and evaluate.

I immediately liked that the Milwaukee M12 Cordless Ratchet Kit 2457-21 was small and low profile.  The 3/8″ ratchet head is only 3/4″  and fits in alot of tight spots.

At 10-3/4″ long and 1.9 lbs, the M12 ratchet is lightweight and ideal for multiple fastening applications such as automotive, repair and maintenance and anyone who finds themselves using a socket wrench alot.IMG_0095

The M12 ratchet motor produces up to 35 ft-lbs of torque and spins the ratchet head at 250 RPM.

A long and well made metal paddle switch, similar looking to a pneumatic ratchet, comes with variable speed control and ease of use.

This tool has a durable plastic and steel lined housing to protect it from the wear and tear of the shop and from the occasional drop.

Like all M12 tools, an on board fuel gauge measures the Red-Lithium M12 batteries and an LED light is conveniently located under the ratchet head.

Milwaukee M12 Cordless Ratchet Kit 2457-21 Video Review:

Using theM12 Ratchet:

I found the M12 ratchet fast and easy to use.  The torque was adequate to apply and remove fairly loose bolts.  Anything that was on super tight required me to use the tool as a manual wrench for additional torque to break the connection first.  Removal after that was otherwise fast!

A few times I had to turn the tool to break stubborn bolts but once the nut was broken the ratchet was fast and removing it.  For multiple and repetitive fastening this is a nice tool, especially if you are not set up for pneumatic wrenches.

My wood-shop has air for nailers but I neither have nor do I want air wrenches.  The M12 ratchet is a nice in-between solution for my many fastening situations and keys nicely with my other M12 tools.
