Milwaukee M18 6-1/2-Inch Circular Saw Review

The folks at Milwaukee sent me their Milwaukee 2630-22 18 Volt Cordless Circular Saw Kit to review and evaluate.  We took this saw to the shop and job site to test it out.

First Impression:

The M18 Lithium-ion circular saw weighs 8.5 pounds with the battery which is most likely due to the fact that Milwaukee looked for areas to shave off weight.  For example the saw plate is heavy duty aluminum and the blade guard is magnesium,  the saw is durable looking, compact, fairly light and is easy to wield and maneuver.   I immediately liked the ambidextrous trigger safety and electric brake on the blade.

The front and trigger grip of the saw has a soft-grip coating that is great for using the saw in cold weather as well as maintaining your grip in hot humid weather when you may be sweating.

The two M18 batteries both have fuel gauges which are facing up and easily seen when reaching for the saw.  Other tool brands have fuel gauges that require you to flip the tool over.

Milwaukee 2630-22 18 Volt Cordless Circular Saw  Features:

The Milwaukee M18 LITHIUM-ION Circular Saw has a speed of 3,500 RPM and uses a 6-1/2″ blade.

Two 18V XC High Capacity LITHIUM-ION batteries are included which offer up to 20% more run-time and more torque for powerful, precision cutting.

A rip guide, 24T carbide saw blade, one hour charger and carry bag are also included in the kit.

Depth of cut:  2-1/8 inches at 90° and 1-9/16 inches at 45° degrees.

Using the Milwaukee 2630-22 18 Volt Cordless Circular Saw

Right out of the box I tested the accuracy of the saws show plate notches by cutting at 90 and 45 degrees. I was shocked at how accurate the saw was – no tweaking!

I used the saw to cut plywood, framing lumber and LVL stock its very powerful and the battery keeps this saw running and running.   It cut beautifully but did bog down when cutting at 90 degrees and at a full saw blade depth of 2-1/8 inches in a 4×4 pressure treated post.

In my opinion this saw is perfect for 90 percent of job site cutting to include trim cuts.  With a proper blade this saw can make accurate, clean cuts on trim and saw you from dragging a heavier saw and cord up to a dormer or roof peak.
