At least five major drywall producers–USG, National Gypsum, Lafarge, CertainTeed, and Temple–have all announced plans to raise prices on their products by 25% effective Dec. 5 or 6. USG appears to have triggered the price hike with its memo on Nov. 3rd.
According to USG they have not made a profit since 2007. To address this issue they have raised their prices as well as reduced their costs..
