The Kershaw Dividend Knife 1812 is “just right” sized 3″ drop point blade part of Kershaw’s made-in-the-USA link series. This knife, proudly made in the USA is Manufactured in Tualatin, Oregon but is still affordably priced. I make a point to only carry made in the USA knives in uniform, so I’ve been quite pleased with this knife as an everyday carry.
Design and Features
This knife is designed to be sized “just right” for the convenience of everyday tasks but resilient enough for heavy-duty use in the field. Designed with an “elegant” drop point for aggressive piercing and a heavy enough belly for effective slicing. The handle is glass-filled nylon. Featuring a simple Kershaw logo and asymmetrical pattern molded into the handle. These features make the grip effective even with sweaty palms or in use in a wet environment. Design and features also include 420HC Steel.
420HC Steel
420HC steel is extremely durable and easy to keep sharp, even with old fashioned sharpening tools. This makes it a perfect field knife. Not to mention the 420HC steel is less apt to corrode, perfect for the austere environment faced in the field or on a job-site.
How Much?
This is a great all-around knife, but we know how much a tool cost is critical to determine value versus performance and features. The Kershaw Dividend Knife 1812 MSRPs for $59.99, but can be purchased online for $39.99. A great deal for this American made blade.
Overall Impression
The simple appearance of the knife is a testament to its utility. From the blade design to the handle construction, this knife is excellent. My overall impression is this is a no-nonsense knife that functions well in many situations and is handsome enough for an everyday carry for almost every occasion.
