Ironing Board Storage Tip

This post will show your our ironing board storage tip that can be deployed almost anywhere.

FROM THIS: stuffing it in a corner.

Turn Unused Space Into An Iron board storage Rack

TO THIS: mounted on the door and out of the way.

In this small laundry closet the ironing board was stuffed to the left of the closet but always was in the way when the washing machine or dryer door was open. This was inconvenient and often resulted in the board falling over.

Hanging the ironing board on the door was a simple, pragmatic and cost effective storage solution.

Note: Some ironing board legs have a “T” shape. In that situation you may want to install two large hooks to hold and support the leg.

Parts needed: One rubber hook, two eye hooks and an 18″ bungee cord.
Tools Needed: Drill and bits, tape measure, level.

Pre-drill and install the rubber eye hook high enough on the door to keep the ironing board off the floor.

The rubber hook supports a cross bar on the folded board leg. The ironing board hangs off this hook and the bungee cord secures the ironing board tight to the door.

The placement of the two eye hooks should be a few inches wider then the ironing board width.

This is how it looks complete.

strong>Safety note: make sure you buy a bungee cord that does not need to be stretched more than an inch to connect the two eye hooks. The bungee cord installed and shown here has very little tension on it to avoid it springing back and causing injury.

Iron board shown stowed, securely in place. No more moving it every time you open the dryer door, but readily accessible when needed!
