G.E.M. ~ Means Green Energy Machine
Last month, Waltham based, IST Energy released the world’s first compact, mobile waste-to energy system: the “GEM” (Green Energy Machine).
This machine converts trash into fuel pellets that can be used to create electricity and gas heat. 95 percent of daily consumer waste can be dumped into the machine, including paper, plastic, wood, food, and agricultural materials.
2 Tons of Daily Trash
The GEM is portable, and is ideal for locations that produce at least two tons of trash daily like a sports stadium, college campuses, or other large companies.
The GEM processes three tons of waste daily, and can power and heat a 200,000 square foot building containing over 500 people.
How Big, How Much?
The GEM looks like a small tractor trailer, is eight feet high and covers the size of three parking spaces and costs $ 850,000 with a payback period of 3-4 years.
