Addressing heat loss and excessive energy consumption in your home can save you hundred of dollars in heating and cooling savings over time.

In order to evaluate your homes energy efficiency take aWalk though each room of your house and make note of deficiencies or problems is a great first step to addressing issues.

My suggestion is to focus on the “low hanging fruit” that provide the most yield in savings. These are large heat loss issues like adding insulation, storm windows or foaming air leaks in the attic.

Locating Air Leaks First, look for the most obvious air leaks. The drafty door or window leaks. Stopping these drafts have a potential savings that can range from 5% to 30% per year, and the the result is a house that feels warmer.
