DREMEL 4000

Dremel 4000

THE DREMEL 4000 REVIEW:

The Dremel 4000 is a corded rotary tool that is versatile in carving, engraving, routing, grinding, sanding, cutting, cleaning, polishing and more.  Recently the folks at Dremel sent me their Dremel 4000 to evaluate.

This high-speed rotary tool is ideal for do-it-yourselfers, woodworkers, hobbyists, hands-on professionals, homeowners, craftspeople, artists and even contractors.

The Dremel 4000 features a variable speed range of 5,000 to 35,000 rotations per minute. It is the only Dremel rotary tool compatible with all Dremel accessories and attachments, plus the MultiSaw and Planer attachments originally created for the 400 Series XPR rotary tool.

First Impression:

I’ve always been a fan of the Dremel tool so I was not surprised when I  found the Dremel 4000 super comfortable in my hand with a well placed indent in the rear grip.  The tool design allows it’s user to grip toi e tool in a 360-degree grip.  the on and off switch as well vell as the variable speed control are well placed and out of the way of grip interference.

The Dremel 4000 is super light at just over a pound.  I found the shaft lock mechanism easy to use and along with the provided wrench bits were easy to swap out.

Using the Dremel 4000:

I used the Dremel to sand maple and oak, cutout drywall, sheet metal and cut off the heads on 16 penny nails.  It did all of these things easily.   I also took it to the job site where I used it to tweak the side of a deadbolt latch plate.  In the past If I wanted to adjust a deadbolt or strike plate it involved using a utility, chisel, drill and a wood patch or putty.  I used the grinding stone on the Dremel 4000 to remove a small amount of the deadbolt plate to allow the deadbolt to engage without having to put a shoulder into the door. ~ Very nice!!

The Dremel 4000 had plenty of power, was easy to use and got the job done.  If I had used a mill file on the deadbolt I would have had to spend fifteen minutes with 1/2″ strokes.  This little rotary tool got it done in a matter of seconds.

Overall Impression:

Being a fan of the Dremel rotary tool I was not surprised with the innovation and power of the Dremel 4000.  I was super impressed and recommend this tool for anyone who may need a multi-function tool that can carve, engrave, route, grind, sand, cut, clean, and polish.

This kit comes with an assortment of accessories, including two heavy-duty emery cut-off wheels, three sanding discs, one-inch felt polishing wheel, polishing compound, a carbon steel brush, and a nice carry case.e.

The Dremel 4000 is available from most major hardware stores and home improvement centers. You can also buy the Dremel 4000 kits online at Amazon. If you’re interested in purchasing it online then check out the following link: Dremel-4000-2-30-120-Volt-Variable
