DEWALT® introduced a new line of hand tools, A WHOLE NEW TOUGH™ for almost any job you can imagine.   With 130 new tools coming out by September this is exciting news for tool junkies like me.

DEWALT® did their homework and are covering every aspect  of hand tool categories, see below:

Hand Tool Categories:

  • Staplers
  • Wood Chisels
  • Pliers & Wire Snips
  • Hammers & Pry Bars
  • Wrenches & Hex Keys
  • Cutting Tools
  • Marking & Layout Tools
  • Measuring Tools
  • Screwdrivers & Screwdriver Sets
  • Storage & Work Solutions

What tools do you think DeWalt should make???    Here are some of the tools that I now have are:

Snap-Off Knife (DWHT10038R )

The DeWalt DWHT10038R 18 mm Metal Body Snap-Off Knife, is way more durable than those cheap, plastic snap-off knives, the DWHT10038R has a metal body design that makes it perfect for tougher cutting tasks and it will resist rust and corrosion for years to come.

Being tapered with ribbs the body has a nice ergonomic design.  This is perfect for cutting rigid insulation or fiberglass.

25 Foot Short Tape with 13 Foot Blade Standout   (DWHT33385)

I was impressed with the Dewalt 25 Foot Short Tape (DWHT33385) it features an oversized  hook for grabbing, but more importantly it has a 13 feet of blade standout.  this is important when your working alon and trying to extend your tape out to reach something to measure.  I tried this several times and my tape made it to 12′-6″  still super impressive!!!

Rubber pads help protect the tape as well as keep it in your sweeaty hands!

Dewalt also made the tape’s blade better.  they are using a patented  3M Thermoplastic film adhered to the first six inches of the blade which extends the lifespan of the blade.

This tape is expected to retail for approximately $24.99.

 5-in-1 Hacksaw (DWHT20547)

The Dewalt 5 – in-1 hack saw is a game changer!   This tool will no doubt provide general contractors, electricians, plumbers and metal fabricators five problem solving saw alternatives  in one tool.

Hacksaw:

This saw looks similar to a typical 90 degree hacksaw, holds the blade up to 330 lbs. and is ideal for cutting PVC and metal piping.

45 Degree Flush Cuts:

Remove the blade, flip the saw over and place the blade on the opposite side of the frame, making a 45 degree angle to the saw handle.

Low Profile Hacksaw:

Remove the blade and the rubber over-molded die-cast nose piece and insert the blade back in the main frame, transforming the tool into a low-profile hacksaw for cutting in tight or confined spaces.

Long Reach Applications:

For hard to reach applications remove the hacksaw blade, loosen the blade storage knob on the top of the saw, remove the reciprocating saw blade from the storage compartment and insert and tighten the reciprocating saw blade or the hacksaw blade in the front of the saw for long reach.

Drywall Jab Saw:

Insert a reciprocating saw blade into the bi-material nose piece and tighten.

Dewalt says that distribution beginning in July 2011, and it is expected to retail for approximately $24.97. The new saw comes equipped with one hacksaw blade and one reciprocating saw blade.

Chalk line Kit (DWHT47143)

The chalkline is one of my favoruites.    I absolutely love te new open-access door design for filling this tool with chalk.  It puts the chalk right where you need it!  A Stainless steel crank and hook are helpful and nice quality additions.

8-Piece Metric Locking Hex Key Set (DWHT70263)

The Dewalt 8 – piece Metric Locking Hex Key set comes with various metric hex key sizes. This hex key set features a locking mechanism that locks at 90, 135 and 180 degrees.

Set includes 8 metric hex keys in sizes 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 8.  A release button allows you to adjust keys or fold the tool closed.

The best feature of this tool is the locking mechanism which locks the hex keys in place

 100 foot steel tape (DWHT34036)

I was impressed with the Dewalt 100 foot steel tapes 5:1 gear ratio.  the gear ration allows the user to rewind the blade five times faster than normal cranking.
One innovative addition to this tool is the Dirt Removal Window which allows users to empty dust particles inside of tool.  Stainless steel crank and hook are also a plus when out in the elements!
