DEWALT DCR015 Jobsite Radio

The DCR015 never heard of it, what is it, who makes it, when do we get to see it??   Those were the comments I got on Facebook when I posted that the DCR015 was being unveiled.   DEWALT Radio DCR015_1 4

The  DEWALT DCR015 Job site Radio has not even hit shelves yet but there is a decent amount of online buzz about it already!

DEWALT DCR015 Job site Radio Review

The press release came out today but we’ve had this radio for some time and did a review on it.   All of the contractors who have seen it all mention that the reduction in size does not impress them, but the added features do!

First Look Video On This Radio:

First Impression:

At first glance DEWALT DCR015 Job site Radio is a durable looking radio.  True to form DEWALT makes job site tough tools and the the 360 degree roll cage screams tough!

This cage feature alone makes it job site ready, but DeWALT did not stop the changes there.  They have included an integrated battery charger, device storage box with an AUX and USB port, and two AC power outlets. The brilliant green lit display, five presets, turn dial volume, and smooth rubber function buttons also make this particular radio that much easier to use and more enjoyable.

For the DeWALT cordless enthusiasts, not only does the DCR015 charge your 12V Max or 20V Max batteries when plugged into an outlet, but can also run off them.  The option to not be secured to an outlet is always a bonus.

As if that was not enough, DeWALT has provided the AUX IN Cable to plug your digital audio device into.  While your device is stored in this compartment, the USB port allows you to charge that device when the DCR015 is plugged into an AC outlet, assuming it is USB compatible.  Now you can listen to your music off your phone and charge your phone too!

It’s Not that Much Smaller!

I’m a huge fan of the smaller Milwaukee and Bosch radios because I fell in love with their weight and size.  The problem with the smaller radios is they have cheap “phone charger” like power cords and can not charge batteries!

The DCR015 has a real power heavy duty cord, rack for storing it and charges batteries.

How’s It sound?

The most important part of any radio is, of course, sound.  This unit has easy to use controls from volume to equalizer and the woofers and tweeters provide a full and quality sound accompanied with an efficient Class D amplifier.

I’m not an audiophile but this radio cranks and sure does sound good on the job site!

The DEWALT DCR015 Job site Radio does not have a mute button which I find extremely useful on the job site to answer the phone or speak to a client.   I also was unable to get my android phone to fit in the storage compartment without having to remove it’s protective case.   That was a hassle.

How Much And Where To Buy?

The DCR015 is backed by a 3 year Limited Warranty and will be available for distribution starting April 1, 2013, online and at big box stores, with an expected retail price of $179.00.

While slightly more money than their larger job site radio the new updated features is music to my ears!!!!
