DeWalt 20v String Trimmer Review

DCST920P1 DeWalt 20v String Trimmer

DeWalt 20v Brushless Trimmer DCST920P1

Dewalt 20V XR Brushless 13″ String Trimmer (5.0Ah)

This is the first battery powered trimer I have ever used.  I’ve spent a brief period of time lugging around a long extension cord for a corded trimmer, most of my experience is with a gas powered trimmer. The DeWalt 20v String Trimmer can not be compared to a corded trimmer since it completely outperforms the corded version. When comparing the DCST920P1 to a gas powered trimmer, there are a few pro’s and con’s to consider.

Thoughts on Using the Trimmer:

The trimmer works exceptionally well. I immediately noticed how light weight [8,5 lbs] and comfortable the tool was to use.  It’s really quiet to operate and intuitive to operate.  The trimmer uses a standard bump feed to extend the trimmer string.

The variable speed trigger was useful around some delicate plantings I have.  A larger guard, shoulder strap and double string would be nice addition to future models.

Summary

I may be a bit biased due to the fact that I am tired of my gas trimmer not starting, and because of how well my other DeWalt 20v tools have been performing. If you’re already using DeWalt’s 20v line of tools the DeWalt 20v String Trimmer Review is a great addition and a no brainer if you are in the market for a string trimmer.
