Bosch OIS Multitool Blades

Bosch OIS Multitool Blades

Bosch Introduces OIS™ Standard

Since my brother , a plumber, bought me my oscillating multi-tool I’ve looked back and said, “how did I ever get by without this?

I use my multi tool for everything but mostly for cutting. We jokingly call it our tool for “surgical cuts.”

The most common complaint for remodelers about oscillating multi tools is the price of the replacement blades which cost up to @$24.00 apiece in my neck of the woods.

Universal Blade Interface

I’ve been waiting for the multi tool market to move toward a universal interface design—similar to the SDS bit design for rotary hammers or the T-shank blade design for jigsaws. Until then Bosch has a solution to hold us over.

Bosch Oscillating Interface System

Bosch Accessories recently released an accessory that will allow multi-tool users to use different manufacturer blade attachments. They call it their “Oscillating Interface System” (OIS), becoming the first company to develop a
standard accessory interface in a rapidly growing and segmented market.

The new OIS (oscillating interface system) adapter disk will make any brand of multi tool accessory compatible with any brand of oscillating multi tool. The disk, which will sell for $7.00.

12-pin system

“OIS is a unique 12-pin system from Bosch that provides a secure, reliable connection between the tool and the accessory. That’s important, especially with today’s high-torque oscillating tools,” says Ken Osberg, Bosch Group Product Manager. “It also enables users to position accessories in 12 different angles to deliver great maneuverability and access to work spaces.”

The Bosch OIS adapter ensures that OIS accessories work on all oscillating multi- tools on the market, regardless of interface, and is designed to provide the best fit for all tools.

Other Manufacturer’s Following Suit

In addition, tool manufacturers have begun designing tools specifically around the OIS standard. Oscillating multi-tools from Bosch, Skil and Milwaukee Electric Tool are already OIS direct fit tools, with more on the way. Bosch has a ton of new blades available.

Because users spend approximately 80 percent of their time with oscillating multi-tools performing cutting applications, Bosch concentrated first on developing accessories that deliver great performance when cutting wood, metal and other materials.

Bosch’s OIS system and its new family of oscillating multi-tool accessories are available now at distributors and home centers as individual products or as part of a variety of multi accessory specialty packs.
