The average temperature in New England is 43 degrees, so you can imagine how chilly early fall mornings are.
When you work outdoors like I do, early fall means dressing in layers and slowly stropping them off as the sun rises and heats up. Some days start off at 32-degrees, top off at 75-degrees, for a few hours and then back to the 30’s at sunset.
It’s not uncommon to start the morning with multiple layers and a jacket and be wearing a t-shirt at noon.
We recently tested out the Arborwear Campbell Hill Jacket. We assumed the jacket was named after Campbell Hill which at 1,550 feet (472 m), is the highest point in elevation in the state of Ohio. By the way, that’s not that high, just saying.

Thoughts on the Campbell Hill Jacket
The Arborwear Campbell Hill Jacket is 100% Nylon Ripstop, 60g Primaloft Gold Insulation. Primaloft is a synthetic insulation and has the highest warmth-to-weight ratio of any synthetic insulation currently on the market. It’s soft, durable, high-loft and made from 100% polyester microfiber. Primaloft is also very thermally efficient, lightweight, compressible, fast-drying and water-resistant.
I usually dress in layers and hate any one garment to be too heavy. I really like that this jacket is lightweight and compressible, the left pocket also doubles as a stuff sack. Yes, this jacket can store in its own pocket. This is a great feature, and allows me to throw the “jacket-sack,” under my truck seat for emergencies.
Like most jackets, the Arborwear Campbell Hill Jacket has zippered hand-warmer pockets. There is an interior check pocket is handy for storing a hat, cellphone or wallet.
While Arborwear says this jacket has durable thread for abrasion resistance, this is NOT a job site jacket. It will easily tear is worn as an outer garment doing construction. I envision this jacket worn as a layer under a hard, more durable jacket like the the Arborwear Cambium jacket. Which is my favorite jacket in the whole world!
I also see this jacket worn on estimates, meetings and around town. Its a good looking jacket and I received many compliments while wearing / testing it.
The jacket also has Teflon® Fabric Protector to repels most water and oil-based liquids. An adjustable draw cord hem integrated into the hand pockets allow you to cinch up the waist band to keep wind out.
