Sealing Drafty Outlets

By Robert Robillard on Home Repairs And Remodeling

Stop Drafty Outlets

Electrical boxes that house outlets and light switches are a huge source for lost heat.   Sealing drafty outlets is easy to do with foam covers.

For a few bucks you can purchase foam gaskets that will help reduce drafts and heat loss.

These foam gaskets are 2 1/2″ wide and 4″ high and fit standard electric outlets and switches install behind the plate.

Here’s how to do it:

1. with a screw driver remove the existing cover plate.
2. Press out and discard the pre-cut insert from the gasket
3. Place the gasket in position, screw the cover plate back on.
