Innovative Home Improvement Products

By Robert Robillard on Tool News

Innovation can be a good thing especially when it allows us to build, repair or replace with safer, stronger and better products.  Here’s a few Innovative Home Improvement Products that have caught my eye this year:

Marathon Flat Free Wheelbarrow Tire:

You don’t have time to deal with flat tires and this Marathon flat free tire will keep your equipment moving.  This “flat free” wheelbarrow tire looks and feels like a pneumatic tire without ever getting flat.  This lightweight, solid polyurethane wheelbarrow tire is mounted onto a 8in. steel rim, with 6in. hub, 5/8in. bearings and grease fitting. This wheelbarrow tire is 4.80/4.00-8in. with a ribbed tread, 15.5in. O.D. and a 450-lb. capacity.

Simpson Compression and Tension Straps CTS218:

The CTS218 is designed to repair wood members such as top plates, studs and trusses and is our first strap that handles both tension

and compression loads. The unique rolled edges of the strap allow it to span gaps as wide as 4 1/2″ and its 1 1/2″ width enables installation on the narrow face of 2x lumber.

The CTS218 straps are perfect for top and bottom wall plate repair, they meet both IBC and IRC requirements.  14 gauge.

Snap Toggles:

Snap toggles install in smaller hole, only 1/2″ hole and a unique strap acts as an installation tool.

Twice as strong as a regular toggle bolt – solid with a metal channel this bolt can be re-used if bolt is removed.

The best part?  The tensile strength is 265lbs in 1/2″ drywall, that’s strong!

Adjustable Electrical Boxes:

This electrical box has internal rails guide slider plate for smooth mounting adjust ability in wall substrates from 1/2” to 1 3/8” thick and ceiling substrates from 1/2” to 1 5/32”.

The square corner design allows easy wall  cut-in (Old work applications).  Molded spline device holes for quick device screw installation in wall boxes and machine tapped threads for ceiling fixture support in round ceiling boxes.
