DEWALT DWX725 Work StandsHeavy Duty DEWALT  DWX725 Saw Horses:

A sawhorse is basically a four legged beam  used to support  material, work table top or to stand on with a plank.  Over the years I have grown to favor the cheap plastic folding sawhorses.  My reasoning was ease of storage and weight.  The problem with these folding saw horses is that they are cheap and do not last.  I end up spending more money over time replacing them.

DEWALT recently designed  the DEWALT DWX725 Work Stands, durable folding work stands, models DWX725 and DWX725B [comes with a universal miter saw mounting brackets].

First Impression:

I immediately noticed that the DEWALT DWX725 work stands offered more features than my plastic ones.  The DEWALT work stands measures 36 inches wide and has a max capacity of 1,000 pounds each.   For me that means a pair of these will support 2,000 pounds of material, staging, etc.

The DWX725  easily folds up by depressing  the leg lock levers.  All of the levers and handles on this stand are larger enough to see, use and manipulate even when wearing gloves in the cold weather.

Each stand is made from durable steel and aluminum materials but weighs only 15 pounds. Considering their weight rating – that’s impressive!

The DWX725 has a large handle for carrying them and no-mar feet pads are screwed to the leg and designed to protect floors.

Using The DEWALT Work Stands:

I was amazed at how easily the DWX725 folded up and stored away.  The leg lock lever is large and easy to use and the legs easily close with authority!  Side to side stability on all four sides was impressive – there was no noticeable sway.

The DWX725 has an innovative locking latch and carry strap that allows the work stands to be mated and carried as one.  I used this option to lock the units together and slide them under a shelf and out of the way in my tool trailer – another nice feature.

There are built in holes for attaching a sacrificial 2x material to the work stand tops if desired.   I prefer to keep the weight down so I will just use care when cutting.

On a recent project I used the work stands to  span two 16″ wide planks the width of a deck I was working on.  Had I not had these work stands I probably would have placed one plank through two step ladders.   This site-made scaffold allowed me to make  a safer and twice as wide platform to stand on.  It also freed up my step ladders for other tasks.

Overall Impression:

I kept and open mind on this review and I’m glad I did.   These stands are super durable, and heavy duty.  If they don’t last five to ten years I’d be surprised.

When considering that I am paying $60 a pair, twice a year for cheap plastic stands the DEWALT stand pays for itself in a little over a year.  Plus they give me the additional flexibility option of having a 36″ high scaffold option.

How Much and Where To Buy:

I kept and open mind on this review and I’m glad I did, the DWX725B sells for approximately $80 and $110 respectively.  Get yours online here:  DEWALT-DWX725-Heavy-Duty-Stand
