DeWALT Dust Extraction Systems For Cordless And Corded SDS Rotary Hammers

A few weeks ago I toured the Black & Decker University for a media event. I really enjoyed learning about several new DEWALT product lines and even had an opportunity to test some of the DeWALT Dust Extraction Systems with corded and cordless SDS Rotary Hammers.

PRESS RELEASE

DEWALT® Launches Two New Dust Extraction Systems for Cordless and Corded SDS Rotary Hammers

TOWSON, Md. (June 23, 2010) – DEWALT announced today the launch of two new Dust Extraction Systems (D25302DH and D25301D) for cordless and corded DEWALT SDS rotary hammers. With this expanded offering, DEWALT now provides a complete line of dust extraction solutions encompassing all cordless and corded DEWALT 7/8″ and 1″ SDS Rotary Hammers. The new dust extraction systems are ideal for controlling dust in occupied remodel jobs, data rooms, laboratories, public spaces, and overhead applications.

“After spending significant time on jobsites and conducting countless discussions with contractors, we learned professionals need an integrated cordless rotary hammer and dust extraction solution with the ability to collect even the smallest of dust particles,” said Mike McDowell, Group Product Manager, D EWALT. “We are confident this new system will exceed users’ expectations and offer the suction power and versatility they demand.”

The new Cordless Dust Extraction System with HEPA filter (D25302DH) for DEWALT 36-volt and 28-volt SDS rotary hammers is equipped with a built-in motor delivering increased suction and high tool performance compared to competitive units that run off the rotary hammer’s motor.

The new cordless dust extraction system also offers a two-second power-off delay to ensure that dust extraction is achieved and is combined with a HEPA filter for efficient collection of smaller dust particles.

The new Cordless Dust Extraction System is also available as a complete kit (DC233KLDH), which includes a 36-volt 1” SDS rotary hammer, Cordless Dust Extraction System with HEPA filter, two 36-volt Lithium-Ion batteries, a one-hour battery charger, and kit box.

Also new from DEWALT, is a Dust Extractor Telescope with Hose (D25301D) that is compatible with any DEWALT cordless or corded 7/8” – 1” SDS Rotary hammer and can be used with any dust extraction vacuum.

The new dust extraction systems (D25302DH and D25301D) will be available August 1st at construction supply stores. The D25302DH and D25301D include DEWALT’s 1-year free service contract, 3-year limited warranty and 90-day money-back guarantee.

MY OBSERVATIONS:

I was impressed with how well the the Dust Extraction Systems worked. If you click on to enlarge the photo below you will see a brush system surrounds the drill bit. The brushes keep the dust contained and the housing that holds the brushes is where the dust extraction occurs.

Close up of brushes.

I already own a SDS hammer and can see myself retrofitting it with the Dust Extractor Telescope with Hose (D25301D).

The Dust Extractor Telescope is compatible with any DEWALT cordless or corded 7/8” – 1” SDS Rotary hammer and can be used with any dust extraction vacuum.

Dust extraction vacuums are desined to with a built in automatic power take off outlet. This feature allows power tools to remotely turn the vacuum “on and off”. The vacuum is designed to stay on for a few seconds longer than the power tool to clear the vacuum hose of any dust.
