I wasn&#039;t aware of the new self-testing GFCI receptacles.  It sounds convenient enough and sounds safe in theory.  My gut feeling about them is -if I had one installed, I would feel compelled to test it occasionally with an external testing device.  Anything, of course, can malfunction.  I just don&#039;t feel I can trust them 100%.

Something I would ponder, if it was mine -I wonder how the circuitry could stand up to transients over the longer term.  That&#039;s what would compel me to test it myself.

My first visit to your site. My compliments to you on it.  It looks like you have things covered very well.
