Dewalt DWE357 Compact Reciprocating Saw

DEWALT 10 Amp Compact Reciprocating Saw

I recently started using the new Dewalt DWE357 compact reciprocating saw while performing a bathroom remodel in Concord, Massachusetts.

The Dewalt DWE357 compact reciprocating saw is a strange looking bird indeed. It has a completely different and new look.   The shape and design actually make the saw smaller and more compact, as well as allow the user more  control and balance.

Size – Weight – Power:

The Dewalt DWE357 compact reciprocating saw weighs 6.8 pounds and is 14.5 inches long.  A 10 AMP motor powers the saw and I had no difficulty cutting through framing lumber, plaster and pipe.  While using this saw you immediately notice that the tool is well balanced thanks to the new and improved design.  The saw also features a variable speed one-finger switch.

The Dewalt DWE357 compact reciprocating saw will cut at 2,800 strokes per minute (SPMs) with a 1 1/8-inch blade stroke length. The saw is designed to provide balance and control, ultimately helping professionals to work longer and experience less fatigue.

One super nice feature is the lever-actuated, four-position blade clamp and fixed/pivoting shoe allows the user to position the reciprocating blade in horizontal and vertical posit, depending on the cutting application and position needed to make the cut.

The pivoting shoe provides the leverage necessary to complete different applications, making the saw versatile particularly in flush-cutting applications.   A keyless blade change feature allows a fast, easily and efficient blade change.

Using the DWE357:

The DWE357 has an ergonomic handle with a soft overmold that provides a great dripping surface.  I immediately noticed the compact design when I was cutting between joist a bays and wall partitions.

The Dewalt DWE357 compact reciprocating saw fit where none of my other recipe saws could go.   In the photo right I am using the  Dewalt DWE357 Compact Reciprocating Saw to make a cut between ceiling  joists on a flat roof deck.  This saw increases versatility and your ability to engage in cutting applications in tough, tight spots, overhead cuts as well as other difficult challenging workspaces.
