Workshop Tip:  Using A Clamp To Hold A Level In Place:

Hands Free Level

If you’re a solo carpenter it behooves you to take the time to think about tips, techniques and methods of work that will not only help you accomplish your job, but save you time and money.

One such tip that I use often is to us a clamp to hold my level in place to free my hands up.  I always joke that carpenters should have three hands when assembling and using levels.  This tip below is not new but it’s a good one and one that I use often.

By using a simple soft-grip, pistol grip clamp I temporarily attach my level to the side of objects, in this case a cabinet stile.

In this case it is imperative that the cabinets be installed level and plumb.  This level stays in place during the installation and can be quickly and regularly checked as needed.
