Timberland PRO® Helix 6-Inch WP Safety Toe

Description:

The folks at Timberland recently sent me a pair of Timberland PRO® Helix 6-Inch Waterproof Safety Toe work boot to try out and review.  These work boots are relatively new to the market and are touted to be the greatest and latest.

I was curious but hesitant because over the years I have developed an affinity for a certain brand /  type of boot.  I wear a 6″ boot in the winter and in the warmer months I lean toward low cut boots for their decreased weight, and also because they are cooler.

When I opened the Timberland box I was shocked at how light the Helix boot felt.

First impressions are lasting.  I observed the Helix boot to be a rugged, waterproof,  full-grain leather shoe with a steel toe.  I am a huge fan of steel safety toe on the job site and have them in all of my work boots /shoes.

Timberland calls their steel toe the TiTAN® safety toe.   TiTAN® safety toe is actually a lightweight alloy material that offers steel toe protection without the weight that translates into less fatigue in your legs and lower back at the end of the day.  I’m a fan of anything that allows me to be more productive and less tired!

The inside of the Helix boot has a breathable mesh lining called Agion® which is an antimicrobial treatment.  I’m not sure how this works but we’ll see if these boot smell after a few months.

The Timberland PRO® Helix also has a rugged rubber out-sole, which is slip-, oil- and abrasion-resistant and also features our Ladder Lock™ out-sole radius, which offers comfort and confidence on extension ladders.

In years past quality steel toe work boots came with steel shanks or plates in the sole of the shoe to reduce foot fatigue.  These steel shank / plates are embedded into the sole of the boot making it more comfortable for a wearer to stand on ladder rungs or pole or tree climbing pegs.  These plates also helped the wearer if they stepped on a protruding nail.  In recent years the steel has been replaced with a composite material to reduce weight.

I’ve been wearing the Helix work boot for several weeks now and have zero complaints.  They are super comfortable and provide great ankle support, I’m sold!  So before you “walk a mile in my shoes” try these boots first.
