A Concord Carpenter “Concord Carpenter” Delivers Tips For Simple Home Repair

By  Eric Snow  Verdant Communications

A Concord Carpenter offers expert advice on home repairs and maintenance to the “do-it-yourself” (DIY) crowd across Boston’s Metro West region.

CONCORD, Mass., December 20, 2010 – Thrift and ingenuity, New England traditions, are entering the 21st Century this week with the launch of a new real-life television program featuring blogger and local handyman, Robert Robillard – also known as A Concord Carpenter.  The new show offers expert advice on home repairs and maintenance to the “do-it-yourself” (DIY) crowd across Boston’s Metro West region.

During the highly informative 30 minute program, Robillard demonstrates to homeowners how to handle a variety of simple home improvement projects with minimal experience and tools. The show concludes with a “Quick Fix” segment aimed at giving individuals the confidence to tackle a wide range of projects on
their own. In the first episode, for example, Robillard gives simple instructions on how to install a bathroom  fan and how to replace a door knob.

“For the past couple of years, I’ve had the chance to share tips and tricks for all kinds of home repairs through my blog, A Concord Carpenter Comments,” said Robillard. “For the big jobs, people should hire a professional, but there are lots of simple things the average homeowner can do on their own to improve the
value of their home. This new TV show is an exciting way for me to demonstrate to people just how easily it can be done.”

Homeowners with questions or projects on which they’d like advice are encouraged to contact A Concord Carpenter directly or the show’s producer, Susan Merlino. A Concord resident, Merlino sits on the Board of Directors for the Concord Chamber of Commerce and is owner of Concord Bike Tours, a local tour company. Other community involvement in the program comes from Concord Lumber, which donated the materials used during the show.

“In the spirit of neighbors helping neighbors, we hope this new show gives local homeowners the inspiration they need to fix a few things around their home,” said CCTV’s Merlino. “In fact, the show is reminiscent of the early days of This Old House. Rob’s such a straight-shooter, and his instructions are so
easy to follow that anyone who watches is sure to be comfortable taking on a few simple projects around the house.”

In addition to offering home improvement and remodeling advice on his blog, Robillard is an accomplished finish carpenter and general contractor. In recent months, he has expanded his blog to include a steady stream of tool reviews for those ready for the next step in their DIY careers.

Those who miss the show live can find it on demand through their local cable provider, on the CCTV website, or online at  www.aconcordcarpenter.com.

CCTV is a non-profit with a mission to foster community, communication, and collaboration by providing citizens that live, work or attend school in Concord or Carlisle with the skills and equipment necessary to produce their own local cable television programs
